Preterm birth is the leading cause of infant mortality. In many cases, premature birth can be prevented with proper medical care and social support. Make Your Date Detroit is a Wayne State University implementation science program to reduce the rate of preterm birth, the leading cause of infant mortality. It was launched in 2014, to implement evidence-based strategies to reduce the rate of preterm birth. Make Your Date connects expectant mothers to prenatal care and health insurance, provides preterm birth prevention education and group prenatal care, ensures access to important tests and screenings during pregnancy, connects mothers to resources in the community, and delivers constant support throughout pregnancy. Thus far, Make Your Date has reached over 9,500 women.
