Hala El Ouweini, M.D., M.Sc.
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Hala recently moved to Detroit to join the Office of Women’s Health as a Research Associate with an interest to grow her passion in an environment serving to advance the health and well-being of women and girls. She is involved in the coordination of multiple research projects conducted at the Office of Women’s Health. Hala’s main project is the SOS MATERNITY Network (The Synergy of Scholars in Maternal and Infant Health Equity), a statewide network aiming to improve infant and maternal outcomes across the state. Hala is also active in the Make Your Date Program, an implementation program aimed to decrease Preterm birth in Detroit. In addition, she works closely with medical students at Wayne State University to improve their leadership skills through the Trailblazer Fellowship. Moreover, she organizes the Women's Health Scholarly Concentration for Wayne School of Medicine whereby medical students have an opportunity to participate in research projects on women’s health. Hala ultimately aims to pursue residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and follow her dream of having a long-life career of caring for and empowering women of all ages.
